1930 American La France Fire Truck
The
members of the Benton Fire Department are asking for your help in bringing
back a piece of Benton’s history. The above photo is the 1930 American
LaFrance Fire Truck, purchased by the City of Benton in February 1930.
This is one of the first fire trucks owned by the city.
The current owner has contacted the Benton Fire Department and offered to
sell the truck back to us so that we may have a piece of our department’s
heritage. This truck was restored a few years back with the Benton Fire
Department lettering and is something for all of us to be proud of.
Our firefighters are asking for donations to help offset the cost of
purchasing this fire truck. Our plans for the truck will be used as an
educational tool and as a show vehicle in local parades and other events.
