The Volunteer Community of the Year award is given by the Office of Governor Mike Beebe, DHS Division of Community Service and Nonprofit Support, and the Arkansas Municipal League.
The City of Benton has long been known as “The Heart of Arkansas,” and the hearts of our volunteers get bigger every year. As we see growth in our city, the number of volunteers stepping up to take care of the needs of our citizens grows as well. We have experienced several changes in our community over the last year, and the good people of Benton were once again eager to help wherever they were needed, whether it be to help a family in need or work on a campaign to bring new commerce and economic opportunities to our city. In 2012, 7,324 dedicated citizens volunteered over 222,000 hours helping others in our community.
