Benton
Utilities Billing Department
The Billing Services division of Benton Utilities is where you set-up new
service or pay your bill for water, sewer and electrical services. This
department is also where all meter readings are collected, connects and
disconnects are completed, billing is initiated along with all collection
notices.
Billing Service Manager

This department is under the direction
of Cindy Hawkins, she has been working for the City of Benton for three
years now. Mrs. Hawkins works under the direction of Terry McKinney,
Benton Utilities General Manager, to accomplish all goals set forth by
the Benton Utilities Commission. |
Assistant Supervisor, Billing Services
 |
Assisting Mrs. Hawkins is longtime City
of Benton employee, Greg Gladden. Greg went to work for the City in
November of 1988 starting out as utilities dispatcher working his way up
to his current position as assistant supervisor in the billing services
division where he directs the meter readers and servicemen while
assisting all personnel in this dept. in their day to day activities.

Also working to accomplish the goals of this department are a billing
specialist, a lead cashier/customer service representative, four
cashiers/customer service representatives, five meter readers and two
servicemen.
Billing Specialist

At this time, Benton Utilities has one
billing specialist in the Billing Services Dept. Robin Polk is
responsible for preparing the information to be billed. |
Cashiers / Customer Service Representatives
 |
The Billing/Customer Service Office is
staffed by a lead cashier/customer service representative and four
cashiers/customer service representatives. This is where you go to pay
your bill, to get answers to your billing questions and to establish new
service or change an existing service over into your name.

Servicemen
The Billing Services dept. is staffed with two Servicemen. Their
responsibilities include turning electricity and water on and off as well
as taking care of shut-offs due to non-pay.

Meter Readers
The Billing Services Department is staffed by five meter readers. They are
responsible for collecting all of the meter readings for billing.

Meter Reader Dannie Cuningkin is
inputting a water meter reading into his handheld device. The meter
reading has been done using these manual input computers for several
years now. |

Meter Reader Eric Manley is using the computer to
collect the automated meter readings. Benton Utilities began
retrofitting existing electric and water meters with Automatic Meter
Reading devices in early 2006 as well as installing new meters fitted
with the devices. The AMR device allows a meter reader to drive down a
street and collect the reading from a vehicle saving a substantial
amount of time. |
